Earlier this month the Whisky 1901 team returned to Boisdale Canary Wharf, where we had the pleasure of welcoming our members to our bi-annual whisky tasting event.
Both new and long-standing clients had the delightful opportunity to sample a selection of whiskies sourced from the distilleries we collaborate with.
These Whisky 1901 tasting events provide a unique occasion for our clients to interact with our team in a personal setting. It’s not only an opportunity to savor exquisite whiskies but also a platform to engage in discussions about the latest developments in the whisky industry, explore cask investment opportunities, and, most importantly, to establish connections with one another. During the evening, Matt Chambers of Whisky for Everyone led guests through a delightful array of high-quality whiskies hailing from various Scottish distilleries with which we collaborate. This diverse range of whiskies not only showcased the craftsmanship and distinct flavours of different distilleries but also provided an enriching and memorable tasting experience for all in attendance.
The Glenburgie single malt plays a central role in the composition of a Ballantine’s blend, contributing a concentrated fruitiness and honeyed sweetness to the final product. This 15-year-old single malt Scotch whisky is a testament to perfect balance, characterized by inviting aromas of soft red apples and pears. Its full and velvety texture culminates in a long and round finish, creating a harmonious and satisfying drinking experience.
A remarkable whisky, primarily matured in sherry casks. This exceptional spirit boasts a symphony of flavors, including luscious raisins, zesty orange, opulent spices, and decadent dark chocolate truffles. It stands as the flagship expression of our distillery, truly the jewel in our crown. This exquisite whisky is bottled at 46% strength, remains non chill-filtered, and retains its natural color, offering the purest and most authentic taste experience.
The second expression in The Coastal Series. It undergoes maturation in both Ruby Port Pipes and Ruby Port Barriques, which formerly held the iconic sweet, red, fortified wine from the Douro Valley in northern Portugal. The delightful sweet flavors of the wine harmonize seamlessly with the briny notes that define The Maritime Malt, resulting in a distinctive and appealing profile.
Lagavulin, the Islay representative in the ‘Classic Malts’ series, is a profound, dry, and exceptionally peaty whisky. It stands as one of the most robust and pungent of all Islay malts. Lagavulin is not for the faint-hearted, but its unique character and intensity inspire fanatical devotion among its many admirers.
