Investing in Education

At Whisky 1901, we firmly believe that knowledge serves as the foundation of our craft.

Understanding the rich history, intricate production methods, and distinctive characteristics of each whisky which is paramount to our journey of appreciation.

But how does this philosophy translate into the whisky cask investment industry?

We not only talk the talk, but we also walk the walk. We set a high standard for whisky education, striving for excellence that we hope others will emulate. This is why, at Whisky 1901, we offer a comprehensive 3-tier training system for all who join us.

Our training program includes a 2-week course, which consists of two parts. The first part involves shadowing various departments to gain insight into the operations and services provided by Whisky 1901. The second part entails receiving training from our Master of Whisky, Matt Chambers, to acquire a deep understanding of Scottish Whisky. This training equips individuals to conduct tastings that not only educate clients but also leave a lasting impression.

Additionally, we offer the WSET course to provide our portfolio managers with a foundational knowledge of spirits and the industry. This in-person course includes a day of learning, tasting, and an exam.

Furthermore, after three months of employment, staff members are enrolled in the EWA program, which requires completion of a Diploma in single malt whisky. This diploma is mandatory for all staff involved in managing, selling, and marketing casks. It ensures transparency in our whisky knowledge and instils confidence in our clients regarding the information we provide.

At Whisky 1901 we commit ourselves to continuous learning that drives us to always seek new opportunities for growth and development. By staying curious, open minded and proactive, we can continuously elevate our knowledge in the dynamic world of Scotch Whisky. Due to the constant evolving industry, staying ahead of trends is crucial. We encourage staff to read books, articles and blogs to keep us at the forefront of Whisky Cask Investment firms.

Whisky has a way of bringing people together, sparking conversation and forging bonds that transcends borders. Through our education initiatives at Whisky 1901, we aim to not only deepen our customer’s appreciation for Whisky but to also foster a sense of community.

We believe education isn’t just about imparting knowledge; it’s about enhancing the overall customer experience and creating whisky enthusiasts for life.
