About

Glentauchers distillery is a Speyside Scottish whisky distillery, founded in 1897 by James Buchanan & Company in partnership with their spirit supplier, W.P.Lowrie: the former bought out the latter in 1906. The attractive buildings three miles outside Keith were designed by John Alcock, under the supervision of the legendary Charles Doig.It starting producing when James Buchanan Co. Ltd. and three members of Glentauchers Distillery Co. joined hands with Glentauchers a year after that. It was mothballed by United Distillers in 1985, and sold to Allied Distillers in 1989.

Ownership changed again in 2005, when Pernod Ricard bought most of Allied’s Scotch whisky interests. Glentauchers has increased capacity from 3.4 to 4.2 million L.P.A since 2011, by moving to seven- day production and installing two washbacks from the demolished Caperdonich Distillery.
