A Night to Remember at Canary Wharf

Whisky 1901 returns to Boisdale Canary Wharf

Whisky 1901 was delighted to be back at Boisdale Canary Wharf to welcome our members for our bi-annual whisky tasting event. Clients both new and old had the opportunity to sample some of the whiskies from distilleries we work with. Whisky 1901 tasting events offer a unique chance for our clients to meet our team in person and engage in discussions about the latest industry news, cask investment opportunities, and, most importantly, to connect with one another.

Throughout the course of the evening, Whisky 1901 Founder and Managing Director Aaron Sparkes took the guests through a wonderful selection of whiskies. He commented: “The evening was a great success, and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to meet our clients in person once again, continuing our commitment to transparency in all aspects of our business.

Matt Chambers from Whisky for Everyone added: “The whisky tasting evenings are always fun. We enjoyed three whiskies that covered different flavour profiles and explored what was in the glass. In the 18 months that I have been hosting these events for Whisky 1901, I have met and spoken to many of the cask owners. Everyone has their own personal reasons for investing but all enjoy sipping on a good whisky.

The next Whisky 1901 tasting event will take place in Edinburgh on July 14th. If you are interested in investing in whisky and would like to join please contact us at info@whisky1901.com.

Jura 18 Year Old

The Jura 18 Year Old is the pinnacle of the Jura distillery’s range, which was reintroduced in mid-2018. This exquisite expression begins its journey by maturing in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels before spending time finishing in Premier Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux barrels. This process imparts a luscious fruity flavor, making it perfect for a late night dram.

Dalmore 12 Year Old

In late 2008, Dalmore distillery introduced a new expression to replace their previous 12 year old. This single malt whisky is known for its toasty and coffee-rich flavor profile, along with distinct spicy notes and a thick, velvety mouthfeel. Despite its age, the Dalmore 12 year old is considered very rich and flavorful.

The maturation process of Dalmore 12 is divided into two stages. The first nine years of maturation occur in ex-bourbon casks made of American white oak. Subsequently, half of the whisky is transferred to ex-oloroso sherry casks for the final three years. This unique process results in a beautifully balanced whisky with a blend of sweet and rich, sherried flavors.

The GlenDronach 21 Year Old

In 2011, Glendronach released a 21-year-old single malt that was matured in a combination of Oloroso and sweet Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. This particular expression was named “Parliament” after a group of rooks, and not as a political reference. There is a Parliament of Rooks that inhabit the trees surrounding the GlenDronach distillery, making it a fitting name for this fine whisky. The result is a deliciously rich and complex whisky with no peat smoke, featuring notes of dark fruit, toffee, and spices.
